Every Damn Tool You Need — Free, No Login

Convert, check, generate, and count in seconds. Free tools with no signup walls, no tracking, and honest results — most run entirely in your browser.

Measured with Google's result-page font metrics; nothing you type leaves this page.

Why pixels, not characters

Google does not truncate titles at a character count. It truncates at a pixel width: roughly 600px on desktop and a little more on mobile, measured in the font Google actually renders (Arial 20px for titles, 14px for descriptions). A title made of wide letters like W and M runs out of room a dozen characters before one made of narrow letters like i and l.

That is why "keep titles under 60 characters" advice fails you right at the margin, where it matters most. This tool measures your text in the same font metrics Google uses, so the cutoff you see here is the cutoff searchers see there.

What to check before you publish

Keep the part that earns the click ahead of the truncation point: the specific promise, the number, the differentiator. Front-load it. If the ellipsis lands mid-promise, searchers scroll past.

Descriptions truncate near 920px on desktop (about 155–160 characters of average text). Google rewrites descriptions it considers off-query, but a precise, outcome-first description still wins the cases where your words are better than their excerpt.

fair questions

Is the preview really pixel-accurate?
Yes. Titles and descriptions are measured in the same typeface and size Google renders in its results (Arial-class metrics at 20px and 14px), against Google's observed width limits for desktop and mobile. Character counters approximate; this measures.
Does my draft title leave this page?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent, stored, or logged anywhere.
What pixel limits does Google actually use?
Observed limits move a little with redesigns, but the working numbers are about 600px for desktop titles and 920px for desktop descriptions; mobile allows slightly wider titles across two lines. The preview marks the exact overflow point in your text.
Why does Google sometimes show a different title than mine?
Google rewrites titles it judges too long, keyword-stuffed, boilerplate, or off-query, in roughly 10–20% of cases. A title that fits the pixel limit and matches the page's actual content is the most reliable way to keep your own words.
